Effects of Salinity and pH on Clay Colloid Aggregation in Ion-Adsorption-Type Rare Earth Ore Suspensions by Light Scattering Analysis

Ion-adsorption-type rare earth ores (IREOs) are an indispensable strategic resource. Rare earths can be extracted from IREOs by means of in situ leaching, which is strongly influenced the migration clay components. In order to clarify effect interaction between mineral particles on leaching process, aggregation IREO colloids was investigated suspension after NaCl concentration and pH value were disturbed based a light scattering method. The results show that prone unstable aggregation, affected salinity suspension. Combined with analysis surface acid–base properties zeta potential colloids, long-range electrostatic attraction heterogeneous charge surfaces plays leading role particles. suspension, electrolyte adjust strength force field overlapping double electric layers influence colloids. above conclusion enrich supplement extraction theory, has certain guiding significance for green exploitation IREOs.
